- Ventilation and Lighting Adequate airflow is provided for effective heat dissipation and safe operation, along with sufficient lighting to support inspection and maintenance activities.
- Acid-Resistant Flooring Epoxy-coated floors and racks are recommended to protect against potential spills, particularly for vented (flooded) lead-acid battery systems.
- Optimal Spacing Batteries are typically installed with approximately 0.5 inches (1.25 cm) of spacing to support heat dissipation, safe cable routing, and ease of maintenance.
Precision Battery Placement and Connections

- Systematic Numbering Batteries are clearly numbered starting from the positive terminal to enable straightforward identification and maintenance.
- Inter-Connector Sizing Correct cable dimensions and layouts are used to balance voltage and current across strings, helping to prevent uneven aging and localized stress.
- Terminal Preparation and Torque Terminals are properly cleaned, torqued to specification, and checked for correct polarity to ensure low-resistance connections and safe operation.
- Grounding Verification We verify that there is 0 V potential between terminals and surrounding metallic structures, ensuring compliance with electrical safety requirements.
